Robot That Sweats
If you’re like most people, you’re probably hopelessly addicted to the HBO series, Westworld, drawn-in by the idea that a world full of life-like androids is a possible reality in the near future. This may not look like a huge step towards that reality, but it is a significant innovation in robotics — researchers at the University of Tokyo’s JSK Lab have created a robot designed to cool itself down by sweating, in order to prolong extended activity. The test subject for this is a robot named Kengoro, which is capable of doing push-ups for 11 minutes straight without overheating. Though a world of human-like robots is still pretty far off, could this technology help with more tangible things now like exploding smartphones? Either way, it’s good news someone’s researching it. Check out the full clip of Kengoro above.
